Homebound Services

Homebound Delivery

Love to read? Having trouble getting to the library because of health or transportation reasons? The West Des Moines Public Library has a service that can help!

West Des Moines residents who are unable to visit the library because of a temporary or permanent disability or the inability to access services due to intense weather can receive library materials delivered directly to their homes by staff or volunteers.

Additionally, if you live in a West Des Moines senior living community, delivery and in-person collections may be available to you.  Please visit our Elder Care Facility Outreach Program page to see if your location houses one of our small, rotating collections or fill out our Request Homebound Delivery form below for in-person visits.

Please note, when a patron is utilizing homebound services for a condition that renders them unable to physically visit our library or kiosk, they are unable to use any in-person library services.  However, they may continue to use e-Services such as Hoopa or Libby.   A WDM library card is required, and all materials check out for one month.

Outreach Volunteers

Do you enjoy spending time with seniors and other community members who may need assistance getting their library materials? If you are patient, kind, upbeat, and a great listener, you may find this position rewarding. Volunteers will deliver library materials to WDM residents in their homes or care facilities and provide socialization, which is critical in preventing cognitive decline. We aim to match applicants with someone who has similar interests.
