Greg Hudson is a Social Studies Teacher at West Des Moines Valley High School.
Greg grew up in Missouri, attending Truman State University where he earned his BS in History and his MA in Education.
He then moved to West Des Moines to teach at Valley High School, where he teaches American History to 11th graders. He also directs Reign, one of the Midwest’s best high school a cappella ensembles.
During his time at WDMCS, he has served as a teacher leader on various committees that focused on school quality, budget, diversity and inclusion, AP courses, grading practices, and online learning. He also teaches classes through West Des Moines Community Education to help students increase their ACT test scores.
As a city councilmember, he serves as Chair of the Finance and Administration subcommittee; he also sits on the Public Safety subcommittee. He has previously served on the board of the West Des Moines Chamber of Commerce, and he currently sits on the board of several regional organizations such as the Homeless Coordinating Council and Catch Des Moines, the convention and visitors bureau. He is the founder of the WDM City-Student committee, as he is especially interested in bringing greater student voice to municipal government, in hopes that young residents of the city will ultimately choose West Des Moines as a place to put down roots.
Greg is married to Kelsey, who was born and raised in West Des Moines and now teaches World History next door to Greg at Valley. They both enjoy traveling, reading, and spending time with their three wonderful children.
