UPDATE 10/15: We have identified our new ILL provider, WorldShare, and are working to implement the program into our existing systems. We will have full details to share very soon!
We know how much our patrons value the service of Inter-Library Loan (ILL), and how you all appreciate an easy, accurate system to make these requests. With this in mind, we are taking a break from using MOBIUS and all other ILL systems to give us time to find a process and products that better meet the needs of our patrons and staff. Effective Friday, July 12, we will discontinue ILL service due to ongoing issues with placing, receiving, and tracking these requests. Outstanding requests will be processed.
This is a temporary measure—we are working hard behind the scenes to find a great solution that will be effective and easy to use. During this transition period, we ask our patrons to have patience and grace with us.
We want to help you find items! Please give us a call, send us an email at library@wdm.iowa.gov, or visit one of our service desks and we will make every effort to locate a copy at another local library that you can pick up. You can also search for items at other libraries yourself by using the Iowa Locator or WorldCat.org. It will show you libraries in the area that have copies of the item you are looking for. Please do reach out to the other library to confirm they have the item before you make the trip. As an Iowa resident, you can check out materials from other Iowa libraries through Open Access—all you’ll need to do is get a library card with that library!
Once we have an update on returning our ILL services, we will share them on our website and social media. Thank you for your patience while we navigate the best path forward.
