"Can you recommend a good book?" This is a question we hear often at the Adult Services desk. Sometimes it's a tough one to answer, as everyone's tastes vary. So we decided to answer this question in the form of a display. Following up on the success of the Blind Date with a Book display we did in February, the Good Books program asks you to take a chance on a wrapped book. The twist this time is that each of the books on these shelves was considered "good" by a well-known source.
We've selected prize-winning books from a variety of literary awards to bring you an amazing collection of titles. You'll find Pulitzer Prize winners, books on the Longlist of the Women's Prize, Oprah's Book Club picks, and GoodReads Choice award winners. You'll also find award winning genre fiction, including recipients of the Edgar Prize for mysteries and the Hugo Award for science fiction.
Simply select your book and check out with staff or at the self checkout station. When you get home, unwrap your book and see if you agree that it's good!
Don't forget to sign up for Summer Reading Club while you're here (it's not just for kids and teens!) and receive your free book journal or book tote. You'll also receive a fine forgiveness coupon and a voucher for a FREE item from our book sale. Sign up online or stop by the Adult Services desk for assistance.
