Event Details

Illumifest, A Fall Festival of Light, offers a variety of activities and events for people of all ages! Join us for this family friendly event from the City of West Des Moines. We will be there making library cards, checking out items from our Words on Wheels vehicle, and manning the line for the Train Rides. 

2024 Schedule of Events 

4:00pm - Inflatables & Food Vendors open (Various fees apply) 


4:00-7:00pm - FREE Train Rides --at the WDM Library, sponsored by the WDM Library Friends Foundation

4:00 - 7:00pm - FREE inflatables and games, paper lantern painting, Cirque Wonderland Aerial Demos, Des Moines Breakers demos, 3D Chalk Artist, Community Organizations Expo, Balloon Creations, Face Painting & Airbrush Tattoos 


5:30 PM - On-site Balloon Ride Reservations Begin

5:45 PM - FREE Community BINGO

6:30 PM - FREE Chinese Cultural Performances 


6:30pm - FREE Hot Air Balloon Rides (A limited number of rides are available. Only two people per ride, riders must be 42" tall)


7:30pm - FREE Outdoor Concert: Faculty Lounge Band
