March 17 -- Iowa's Misbehaving Women  |  Speaker: Cheryl Mullenbach

It’s been said that well-behaved women seldom make history. Author Cheryl Mullenbach has uncovered the stories of some of the state’s intriguing women who refused to “behave” as some expected and invites you to meet these heroic, amusing, imaginative, brave individuals. Learn about Iowa’s female riverboat captain, livery manager/cigar seller, and Cedar Rapids’ “girl in the trenches.” Hear the fascinating story of the woman who spearheaded a drive to provide “vermin-proof underwear” to World War I soldiers in the trenches… Although history has all but forgotten these misbehaving women, you can take time to remember with Cheryl.

Note: the woman depicted is Judith Ellen Foster. More here: http://www.iowawatch.org/2016/06/07/iowan-becomes-highest-paid-woman-in-government/
